400-page chargesheet filed in Gulshan Kumar murder caseThe city police today filed a 400-page chargesheet in the Gulshan Kumar murder case, accusing 26 people of conspiring to murder the music magnate. The state Crime Investigation Department today filed the chargesheet before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vikram Parnitkar, who adjourned the hearing till December 11. Gulshan Kumar was gunned down by three assailants on August 12 near a temple at Versova in north-west Bombay. At a hurriedly called press conference, Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) R S Sharma, who is heading the investigation, said the police has charged 26 people of conspiring to murder Gulshan Kumar. While 13 accused have been arrested, the rest are still absconding. The prime accused in the case -- composer Nadeem Akhtar, gangsters Abu Salem and Anees Ibrahim Kaskar -- are still at large. Sharma said while one of the suspects, Nizamuddin, was found to be innocent, Mohammad Ali Chacha has turned approver. Among the accused are Tips Cassettes owner Ramesh Taurani. The JCP reiterated the police view that the plan to eliminate Gulshan Kumar was hatched in Dubai and that Nadeem and gangsters Abu Salem and Anees Ibrahim were present at that meeting.
