Road accident claims eight in Cuttack

Eight people, including seven members of a family, were killed and four injured when a Tata Sumo carrying them collided with a truck on the national highway at Badapokharia, about 70 kilometres from Cuttack, on Monday.

The deceased included four women and the driver of the ill-fated van,

The police said the family were returning to Balugaon in Khurda district from Puri after performing religious rituals there.

Six persons died on the spot, while the other two succumbed to injuries at the S C B medical college and hospital in Cuttack. The condition of two of the four injured is critical.
