BSP leader Baba Dubey joins SP

April 06, 2009 12:22 IST

Samajwadi Party today received a shot in the arm with senior BSP leader Baba Dubey, who was actively involved in the party's social engineering programme, joining it today.

Dubey, who had contested the last Lok Sabha election from Jaunpur as a BSP candidate and polled over two lakh votes, was the coordinator of party's Brahmin Bhaichara committee of Varanasi division. He was among the top functionaries in the party's social engineering programme.

Welcoming Dubey into the party fold, Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav exuded confidence that his presence would further strengthen the party.

Speaking on the occasion, Dubey said that SP was the only party, which gives due honour to its leaders and workers.
He also termed it as an illusion that Brahmin votes would go with a particular party and promised to work for the Samjawadi party in whatever capacity the party chief appoints him.
