Modi is BJP's super star campaigner: Paresh Rawal

Last updated on: April 09, 2009 10:43 IST

Noted film actor Paresh Rawal today said that BJP needs no film stars to campaign for it asĀ  Chief Minister Narendra Modi himself is star campaigner of the party across the country.

"I have come to Gujarat on a day-long visit for addressing public meetings in Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand and Ahmedabad and I am doing it in my capacity of a responsible citizen and not as an actor," he told PTI.

When asked about visits of other actors to the state to campaign for BJP candidates, Rawal said, "What is the need of them, as Modi is a superstar who has been visiting various parts of the country for addressing huge public meetings in support of BJP candidates."

Rawal demanded that the Rs 35,000 crore multipurpose Sardar Sarovar project across Narmada river at Kevadiya be declared as a national project as it is going to benefit the four major states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan in the country.

After the Centre announcing a policy on utilization of water of major rivers in the country, the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre should have declared it as a national project, Rawal said.

He expressed confidence that BJP-led NDA will form government at the Centre after Lok Sabha polls, as according to him the constituents of UPA have started disintegrating and not ready to accept Manmohan Singh as Prime Ministerial candidate.
