Mind your business, estranged ally tells CPM Kerala chief

April 13, 2009 14:45 IST

War of words intensified between CPI(M) and its erstwhile ally JD-S, three days before Kerala goes to Lok Sabha polls with JD(S) state president M PVeerendrakumar asking CPI(M)'s Kerala secretary Pinarayi Vijayan not to interfere in JD(S) affairs.

"Let Vijayan not interfere in JD(S) affairs. It is our party and not the CPI(M) which will decide who should be our representative in the state Cabinet," he said addressing a party meeting here last night.

Veerendrakumar was replying to Vijayan's remarks that the JD(S), whose lone minister resigned from the Cabinet recently in the wake of CPI(M) taking over Kozhikode Lok Sabha seat from it, would be represented in the LDF ministry soon after polls.
"If Vijayan is going to decide our party affairs then the JD(S) party office can very well be moved to the AKG Centre (CPI(M) headquarters)," he said.

Asking Vijayan to first take care of the problems in the Marxist party, Veerendrakumar said, "The CPI(M) is facing a series of problems including the SNC Lavalin case. In this situation, let him not worry about the JD(S)," he said.

Flaying Vijayan for describing Veerendrakumar as `silly' for remarking against noted businessman Faris Aboobacker, he asked, `Why Vijayan gets upset whenever Faris is criticised? For him, a person like me who had worked with his party for decades is silly and Faris is honest."
