In a pre-dawn attack aimed at disrupting polling on Thursday, Maoist guerrillas attacked with rockets a Border Security Force camp set up for elections in Rohtas district of Bihar leaving at least one jawan injured.
Nearly 100 Maoists attacked the camp around 0140 hrs at Dhansa valley set up for the purpose of Thursday's first phase of polls in the district, Superintendent of Police Vikas Vaibhav told PTI.
He said BSF jawans at the camp engaged the Maoists in an encounter that lasted for three-and-a-half hours. He said police suspected several casualties among the Maiosts. Reinforcements have been rushed and a combing operation launched to apprehend the Maoists, he said.
In Patna, Additional Director General of Police (headquarters) Neelmani said the jawan, who received bullet wound in his leg had been hospitalised.
