Claiming that RJD was sweeping the polls, Prasad said he has nothing to do with the Congress in these polls. "We are sweeping the polls in Bihar. What do I have to do with the Congress in these elections?"
He said the Bharatiya Janata Party supporters tried to prevent voters from casting their votes in many areas of Sasaram constituency. "They (BJP supporters) tried to disrupt polling in many areas in Saran. They prevented Dalits and other lower caste people from exercising their franchise in Lal Bazar and many other areas," Lalu told media persons in Chapra.
Prasad said BJP supporters even tried to block roads and threatened the Dalits and poor people not to vote. "There were three cases of attacks also. It is a failure of the Nitish Kumar government as they failed to ensure free and fair polls."
The RJD chief said he has requested the district collector and the election observer to order repolling in all the areas where people were prevented from voting. BJP's Rajiv Pratap Rudy is the main opponent of Prasad in the Sasaram constituency.
Claiming that the people voted "overwhelmingly in support of RJD and LJP (Ram Vilas Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party)", Prasad thanked the electorate and expressed confidence that the LJP-RJD combine will win in all the 13 seats in the state which went to polls on Thursday.
The Railway Minister also demanded action against all those who were involved in preventing people from casting their votes. "Action must be taken against the guilty. If punitive action is not taken, then we will take up the matter seriously," he said. Thirteen out of 40 Lok Sabha seats of Bihar went to polls on Thursday.
