After Rashtriya Janata Dal president Lalu Prasad's no-holds-barred attack on Congress over its "failure" to prevent demolition of Babri Masjid, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Saturday that the Railway minister should "bare all facts" before the country.

"Lalu Prasad should bare all facts before the country. Why is he only threatening to disclose the secret (about the demolition)," the Janata Dal-United leader said at Patna airport.

Prasad alleged in an election rally at Bihar's Darbhanga district that the Congress too was responsible for demolition of the Babri mosque. "Babri masjid was razed to the ground and Congress too is responsible for it as it did nothing to prevent it. If anyone continue to talk nonsense, I will reveal more," he had said, without elaborating.

Describing the demolition of Babri mosque as "one of the most unfortunate incidents of our times," Kumar said, "from getting the gates of the mosque unlocked to permitting laying of foundation stone for the temple, the (then) Congress government at the Centre allowed it all." He, however, dubbed Lalu as an "incorrigible opportunist", saying, "Lalu became chief minister for the first time with the Bharatiya Janata Party's support and conveniently dumped it when he realised that opposing BJP will suit his interest. He took Congress' help to stay afloat and is now humiliating it.Ever since 1997, Congress provided Lalu with an armour to save him. On how many occasions the Congress protected Lalu is known to everybody," he said, apparently hinting at RJD chief' acquittal in disproportionate assets case, an offshoot of the fodder scam, in which the Centre did not challenge the trial court's order in superior court.
