Chidambaram, who is contesting from the Sivaganga Lok Sabha constituency for the eighth time, had said before the general elections in 2004 that "so far I looked at Sivaganga through (wearing) the specs of India. Hereafter, I will look at India through the specs of Sivaganga".
The AIADMK workers, who flayed Chidambaram for his "failure to do anything concrete for the constituency" sent two pairs of goggles - one to his Chennai address and the other to his native village Kanndanur in Sivaganga district address on Tuiesday, party sources said.
In a letter enclosed with the goggles, the AIADMK workers said, "You (Chidambaram) assured that you will look at India through Sivaganga specs. So far there is no development in the district. We, the people of Sivaganga and AIADMK doubt whether you got Sivaganga specs to look at India. We are therefore sending the goggles which you have been looking for very seriously so far", the sources said.
