In a shocking incident, 13 personnel of the Kerala Reserve Police were arrested by the Mangalore police on Saturday for creating nuisance at the Panambur beach area.

The 13 constables, who were on election duty in Buntwal -- a small town near Mangalore -- were arrested following complaints from residents of the area. The complainants, mainly women, alleged that the policemen (from Thrissur) beat them up when they refused to let them ride on a speed boat.

The Kerala policemen had come to the beach after their election duty. On reaching there, they decided to take a ride on the speed boat. But things turned ugly when they were refused a ride. Residents alleged that the policemen had been asked to wait as the speed boat was already booked. The policemen then allegedly started abusing and assaulting people.
