March 20, 2009 12:23 IST
The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Communist Party of India have announced that they would lodge complaint of violation of poll code of conduct against Congress' Chief Minister in Assam, Tarun Gogoi in view of latter's disclosure that he had gone to Kolkata to collect election fund for the party from the tea industry.

"It's a misuse of CM's office to influence the tea lobby before the polls and a violation of the model poll code of conduct", BJP's coordinator for the Northeast, Harendra Pratap said.

CPI national executive memebr Promode Gogoi on Thursday said that his party had taken note of CM's disclosure and would move the Election Commission to probe the matter.

On Wednesday, Gogoi admitted that he had been to Kolkata to receive election fund from the tea industry on behalf of the party.
