Former Prime Minister of India, H D Deve Gowda accused both Lalu Prasad Yadav and Ram Vilas Paswan of playing opportunistic politics. He said that the two leaders had come together only to increase their bargaining capacity post elections either with the United Progressive Alliance or the National Democratic Alliance.Gowda however added that the leaders of the Third Front will not interfere with either of the leaders.

On the prime ministerial candidate of the Third Front, Gowda made it clear that any decision on this regard would be taken only after the elections. "There is absolutely no difference between the leaders of the Third Front and we are all united in our stand. However none of us are speaking of the PM candidate as of now. The Third Front at present is focusing only on the elections and we are planning to fight it on a common minimum programme," Gowda said.

On the list of candidates of his party the Janata Dal Secular, he did not give a date but added that the list would be out shortly. Gowda also commented on the news regarding senior Congress leader, Ambareesh who had plans of joining the JD-S,he said, " You will have good news by March 29."
