Advani to kick-start Assam poll campaign on Wednesday

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and National Democratic Alliance's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani will kick-start the party's election campaign in Assam on Wednesday, along with the party's ally Asom Gana Parishad.

A senior BJP leader informed that Advani will address an election rally at Kheroni near Diphu at 11 am. The party has fielded Kulendu Doulogopo as its candidate from that constituency.

The senior BJP leader will then address two more rallies at Karimganj and Silchar in Barak valley in the afternoon. He is scheduled to address two more election meeting at Tinsukia and Sivasagar on March 26.

A party source informed that Advani was likely to visit the state again for the second round of campaigning. Other senior leaders including Sushma Swaraj and Narendra Modi are also expected to campaign in the state.

As per its seat sharing agreement with the AGP, the BJP is contesting eight seats out of the total 14. The two parties had fought the 2004 Parliamentary elections separately.
