Last updated on: March 30, 2009 19:08 IST

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Varun Gandhi, who has been booked under the stringent National Security Act by the Uttar Pradesh government, has been granted bail in two separate cases.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Vipin Kumar on Monday granted bail to Gandhi for cases related to giving provocative speeches and violating the People Representation Act and prohibitory order.

However, Gandhi still faces a number of charges including attempt to murder and rioting, and will continue to be lodged in Pilibhit jail.
