Their fate at the hustings might have been varied in 2004 but one thing puts all of them on equal footing -- their wealth have soared manifold since then.

An over seven-fold average rise has been registered in the last five years in the wealth of the 10 candidates re-contesting Lok Sabha elections from the seven seats in Delhi, including four sitting MPs.

The average increase in individual assets for the 10 candidates re-contesting after 2004 has been 755 per cent, with one candidate showing a jump of over 30 times and most of them showing increase in three digits, a report has said.

The maximum jump in assets has been reported by independent candidate from New Delhi constituency Ved Prakash, with his wealth increasing by over 3,000 per cent, said a report prepared by independent organisation the Delhi Election Watch and Association of Democratic Rights.

BJP candidate from New Delhi constituency, Vijay Goel, meanwhile has reported a seven-fold increase in wealth with his assets rising from Rs 45 lakh to over Rs three crore, said the report based on an analysis of affidavits submitted by the candidates.

The 10 candidates re-contesting the Lok Sabha elections, includes Congress' sitting MPs Kapil Sibal, Sandeep Dikshit, Ajay Maken and Krishna Tirath.

While Sandeep Dikshit, son of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, has reported an increase in his assets by 377 per cent, wealth of Union Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal has doubled.

Congress candidate from North West Delhi seat Krishna Tirath has reported a two-fold increase in her wealth, while assets of Maken have risen by 33 per cent in the last five years.

However, Mohd Hasnain, a candidate of Qaumi Party of India, from North East Delhi stands at a consistent 'zero' asset position for the past five years.

Twenty-eight per cent of the candidates in fray for Delhi's seven parliamentary seats which go to polls on May 7 are crorepatis, up from the nine per cent in the 2004 general election.

Out of the 150 candidates vying to enter the Lok Sabha from a Delhi Parliamentary seat, 33 are millionaires, with all seven of the Congress candidates declaring assets in crores.

Among the major parties, the average asset per candidate is maximum for BSP. The average worth of candidates in Delhi of BSP, which has also fielded the country's richest candidate, is Rs 113 crore.

Congress and BJP trail behind Mayawati's candidates, with their average asset standing at Rs seven crore and Rs two crore respectively.
