Congress leader Rajkumar Patel, whose nomination to contest the Lok Sabha election against Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sushma Swaraj from Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh was rejected, was sacked as the Madhya Pradesh Congress general secretary on Friday.
The action was taken by Congress General Secretary P K Hariprasad for acts of 'gross negligence and indiscipline' during the Lok Sabha polls.
Hariprasad said Patel was being relieved of his charge with immediate effect after a report from Congress observers and the state Pradesh Congress Committee found him 'guilty.'
The All India Congress Committee had sent party leaders Harikesh Bahadur and Sayeed Ahmed as observers to look into the issue after the central leadership was shocked over Patel's nomination was rejected.
He had submitted a duplicate of a crucial document instead of the original while filing his nomination for the polls.
