Will accept anyone backing Advani as PM: BJP

May 12, 2009 15:10 IST

Amidst speculations that he will try to rope in the Telugu Desam Party into the National Democratic Alliance, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday said his party will accept support from anyone backing L K Advani as prime minister and talk to others only after the election results are out on Saturday.

"As far as we are concerned, we will talk to other parties only on May 16th evening. I am not suggesting or naming any party or the leader," Naidu told reporters in Hyderabad.

He, however, said that the BJP would accept support from whoever was willing to support Advani as the prime minister and the formation of an NDA government. Reports said that Naidu has been entrusted with the task of talking to the TDP supremo to enlist his support to the NDA in the post-poll scenario.

Expressing hope that the BJP-led NDA will show a better performance in the South, Naidu expressed confidence that the BJP would emerge as the single largest party along with its allies and would form the government.

"If you vote for us, it is full term. If you vote for others, it will be mid-term," he added.
