How the drama will unfold after the LS poll results

The political drama of government formation will begin at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday afternoon.

Here is the chronology of events that will take place after the results are out:

May 16, 4 pm: The Election Commission will hold a press meet to announce the consolidated list of the 543 elected members of the Lok Sabha

May 17, 10 am: The Election Commission's full bench will meet at the Nirvachan Sadan, with Chief Election Commissioner Navin Chawla, Election Commissioners SY Quraishi and VS Sampath and three deputy election commissioners in attendance, to affix a stamp on the consolidated list of 543 MPs

May 18, 11 am: Cabinet Secretary KM Chandrasekhar will convene a meeting of the committee of secretaries to coordinate and also monitor the agenda of the formation of the 15th Lok Sabha and the swearing in ceremony.

May 18, 4 pm: CEC Chawla, with his colleagues SY Quraishi and VS Sampath, will meet
President Prathibha Patil to hand over the list of the elected members

With the President's signature, a proclamation of the 15th Lok Sabha shall be constituted.

May 18, 7 pm: The Rashtrapathi Bhavan shall issue a press communique informing the country that the 15th Lok Sabha has been elected.

May 19, 3 pm: President Prathibha Patil will meet Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and hand over the list of the new members of the Lok Sabha. She will instruct him to identify from the list a senior MP, who has been elected more than 7 or 8 times to the Lok Sabha, as a Protem Speaker.
