Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, in his first reaction after the BJP's poll debacle in the Lok Sabha polls, on Monday said that there is no full stop in politics and that the state will continue on the path of development.

"Gujarat will continue its journey on the path of development," Modi said at the Ahmedabad airport before leaving for Delhi in the morning.

Modi indicated that he would continue to be the chief minister of the state and take it on the development path.

"I also request the United Progressive Alliance government to pursue the path of development," Modi said.

Modi had extensively campaigned throughout India for the Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani.

After the dismal performance of the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance in the elections, this was Modi's first reaction.
