Intellectuals warn about poll disruptions
Bengali intellectuals including legendary writer Mahasweta Devi, painter Suvaprasanna, playwright Bratya Basu and academician Sunando Sanyal sat on a dharna at the chief electoral officer's office in central Kolkata on Tuesday. Armed men are hiding in several guesthouses across the city, they warned, waiting to unleash violence in the city and its adjoining areas to disrupt the polling process. Their dharna was aimed at bringing 'this fact to the EC's notice.'
