Prabhakar likely to depose before CBI this week

Former India all-rounder Manoj Prabhakar, who caused ripples with the sensational disclosure that he was offered money by one of his senior teammates to under perform in a match in 1994, is expected to depose before the Central Bureau of Investigation team inquiring into match-fixing in India.

Prabhakar said, ''I am likely to go to the CBI by this weekend.''

Asked whether he has been summoned by the premier investigating agency, or he will be appearing on his own, he said: ''CBI has been in touch with me. But if they do not decide quickly, I may consider going to them on my own.''

Prabhakar said he will reveal whatever information he has about the scandal at a press conference he plans to call next week. The date and venue is being worked out, he added.

Meanwhile, CBI sources categorically denied reports that Prabhakar had already appeared before the agency. ''He (Prabhakar) will certainly be questioned, but the date is yet to be decided,'' sources said.

The CBI has so far questioned four people, including former Indian team manager Sunil Dev. The names of the other three have not been disclosed.
