Bhupathi-Fazaluddin in second round

Davis Cuppers Mahesh Bhupathi and Syed Fazaluddin pipped Stefano Cobolli of Italy and Donavant September of the United States 6-1, 5-7, 6-1 in a men's doubles first round match in the $25,000 ATP tennis tournament at the Cricket Club of India courts, in Bombay, on Wednesday.

The second seeded Indians took one hour 19 minutes to move into the quarter-finals.

In singles second round matches, unseeded Italian Stefano Galvani took exactly one hour to oust qualifier Vitali Chvets of Bulgaria 6-3, 6-2 while fourth seed Dennis Van Scheppingen of The Netherlands rallied magnificently, after dropping the first set 4-6, to beat another unseeded Bulgarian, Alexander Shvec 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in one hour 55 minutes.

In the last first round match, Ladislav Svarc of Slovakia sidelined Ota Fukarey of Czech Republic 7-5, 7-5 in one hour 36 minutes.

Indian Davis Cupper Leander Paes will play his second round match on Thursday.
