Humpy sets sights on jr. world titleWoman Grandmaster-elect Koneru Humpy said on Tuesday that winning the junior World chess championship, to be held in Athens in August, is her aim. . "After a week's rest, I will start preparations for the Athens junior World championship," said Humpy, who acquired the WGM norm at the just-concluded international tournament in Hungary. Humpy said she would be playing more international tournaments to get better exposure. She, however, expressed her inability to take part in the Asian junior championship. She thanked her father-cum-coach K Ashok and her sponsors for encouragement. Fourteen-year-old Humpy, hailing from Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh, became the second Indian WGM after Subbaraman Vijayalakshmi. She came out with flying colours with the aid of better progressive tally at the Hungary tournament. On arrival, she went to meet Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at his residence. The queen of world chess under-10, 12, and 14 championships, Humpy also has to her credit the Asian juniors title and the coveted British ladies title which she won last year.
