Humpy draws, shares top spotKoneru Humpy held on to her overnight lead despite being held to a draw in the ninth round in the First Saturday Grandmasters tournament in Budapest, Hungary, on Monday. The world junior chess champion drew her ninth round match against IM Fogarasi Tibor from Hungary and now shares the top spot with IM Peter Horvath, who also has 6.5 points from nine games. Playing with black, Humpy drew the match in 28 moves. She now has to win her remaining two games to obtain the second Grandmaster's norm. Horvath was among the notable winners in the ninth round. Playing white, he beat Goran Kosanovic (4) of Yugoslavia to stay in the hunt for the title. Satea Husari (5) of Syria also stayed in with a chance of emerging among the top three by beating (5) Liuben Spassov (2.5) of Bulgaria. Humpy next faces IM Jakab Attila (5.5) of Hungary in 10th round and GM Goran Todorovic (4.5) of Yugoslavia in last round of the tournament.
