Indian racing ace Narain Karthikeyan maintained second position in the Driver's Championship of the Superfund World Series after placing fourth and second respectively in the seventh round of races over the weekend in Barcelona, Spain.

The Tata Team Carlin driver finished fourth in the first race, which was won by Franck Montagny of Gabord Competicion, but did well to place second in the second race.

Montagny, who has 227 points, is assured of the title with two rounds still to go.

Karthikeyan has 115 points, and is well ahead of Stephane Sarrazin (95) of Racing Engineering and Heikki Kovalainen (93) Gabord Competicion, who are placed third and fourth respectively in the championship race.

The next race of the World series will be held at Valencia, Spain on October 19.
