Rafiq Ali wins Patna Open Golf title

Star golfer Rafiq Ali of Kolkata clinched the prestigious Amby Valley PGAI Patna Open Golf-2004 title, scoring 16-under 264, on the final day of the 4-day championship.

In a near repeat of his 1999 win where he defeated Mukesh in a play-off, Rafiq battled hard against the same rival with a well fought final round five-under 65.

Ali thus got a cash prize of Rs 1.62 lakh along with a trophy.

Mukesh Kumar, after a dismal putting display concluded his run, tied second with theĀ 2001 Patna Open winner Vijay Kumar at 11-under 269. The duo who brought in cards of 68 and 67 respectively took home Rs 87,500 each.

Kolkata's Feroz Ali finished fourth at ten-under 271, while veteran Shiv Prakash of Lucknow occupied the fifth spot one stroke behind Feroz.

Roshan Sharan, captain of Patna golf course, shot a final round 79 to win the amateur title at a tournament tally of 302.

State Director General of Police Narayan Mishra gave away the prizes.
