Senior vice-president of the Indian Hockey Federation Narinder Batra has expressed surprise about the passing of IHF's balance sheet in the just-concluded Annual General Meeting, saying the committee that passed it "does not understand the same".

Batra, who had raised objections on financial matters and the balance sheet of the IHF, said the three-member committee formed to look into his objections had asked for one month to give clarifications.

"I don't understand why they need time to clarify when they themselves have passed the balance sheet," Batra said in a statement in Delhi on Tuesday.

"It's a comedy of errors and I fail to understand how they passed the balance sheet when they don't understand the same and now require one month to clarify."

The members of the committee include Baladitya from the Services, Charanjeet Raheja from Delhi and PSB and Gurdeep Singh from Universities.

Batra also said the AGM, held in Hyderabad on January 30, was not a "one-sided" affair as projected in the media.

"Senior vice-president Chandrashekar asked for IHF General Secretary K Jothikumaran's resignation for his inefficiency. He also called for transparency in financial matters," Batra said.     "The functioning of the treasurer and his lack of understanding of financial affairs was criticised by more than 12-15 members," Batra alleged.

He also said IHF president KPS Gill and Jothikumaran had also made a "sudden and surprising" attempt to amend the IHF constitution.

"They were for formation of a company for running of the Premier Hockey League, someone other than the IHF. They came up with papers wanting constitutional amendments. (But) this was opposed by the entire house."

Batra said he opposed the adoption of the balance sheet, general secretary's report, appointment of auditor and various other resolutions including imposition of a ban on IHF office-bearers talking to the media.
