Former Union minister and ex-Olympian Aslam Sher Khan has resigned from the selection committee of the Indian Hockey Federation.
"I dispatched my resignation to the IHF's honorary secretary today. The committee indulges in discrimination and high-handedness while selecting players. These erroneous policies are leading to a constant decline in national hockey," he told reporters in Bhopal on Wednesday.
Khan said it is unfortunate that a country that had earned global recognition in hockey is performing badly in its national game.
"The situation was similar in the Champions Trophy and the recent Commonwealth Games. I urge IHF chairman K P S Gill and secretary Jyotikumaran to quit on moral grounds,'' he said, while calling for a fresh start to Indian hockey and reclaiming past glory.
