Parthiv Sureshwaren, who got an opportunity to drive for A1 Team India after Narain Karthikeyan suffered serious injuries during the practice session in Durban last month, seems so excited with the experience that he has carried it forward to round eight of the Championship to be held in Mexico City on Sunday.
In only his second-ever race in the A1GP Series, the 27-year-old driver drove to the 17th place in the Feature and Sprint race at Durban in spite of being the only rookie up against 21 other very experienced drivers.
"The race at Durban was a tremendous experience for me. It was a difficult track and with several cars crashing and piling up, however I focused on keeping out of trouble and staying on the track," remembers Sureshwaren. "We hope to get our act together in Mexico and bring home some points."
However, on Thursday morning, Sureshwaren enjoyed something complete different from racing.
He took to the famous Azteca stadium the world's fourth largest football ground which has the distinction of being the only stadium to host two World Cup finals (in 1970 and 1986) along with a few fellow drivers.
And during this visit, Sureshwaren participated in a football skills training session with a group of professional Mexican football players and learnt a few more tricks in the process.
