Arjun Atwal continued to be upwardly mobile in the South Georgia Classic Golf Tournament, turning in a three-under 69 in the penultimate round to leap to the tied 27th spot in theĀ $ 625,000 Nationwide Tour event in Valdosta.
The Orlando-based golfer, who barely made the cut at tied55th yesterday, has a three-day total of two-under 214.
The 10th tee starter picked up four birdies against a lone bogey in what turned out to be his best day at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club so far.
Atwal's first birdie came on the 14th hole but he was back to par after dropping a stroke on the 17th. However, a birdie on the very next hole saw him make the turn one-under.
His front-nine went bogeyfree and was studded with birdies on the first and seventh holes.
At the top, Canadian Bryan DeCorso shot a blemishfree 68 to take his total to 11-under 205 and hold on to his overnight lead, which was cut to just one stroke by Englishman Greg Owen.
Owen fired a flawless seven-under 65 in the penultimate
round to grab the sole second spot.
