Tiger Woods's thrilling victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational generated the highest overnight television rating for a golf event since his triumph at last year's U.S. Open, according to Nielsen Media Research.
World number one Woods, playing only his third tournament since returning from reconstructive knee surgery, came from five strokes behind to seal his 66th PGA Tour title with a birdie at the last on Sunday.
NBC Sports drew the best overnight golf rating since last year's U.S. Open when Woods edged out fellow American Rocco Mediate in a playoff.
The Bay Hill rating was 23 percent up on last year, when Woods also triumphed with a birdie on the 72nd hole, and it outperformed the final rounds of the 2008 British Open and PGA Championship, both tournaments missed by Woods due to his knee injury.
