Taliban should not be in power: US

Following Taleban's acknowledgement that Osama bin Laden, prime suspect in September 11 terror attacks, is in Afghanistan, the United States in a sharp rejoinder on Sunday night said Taleban should no longer be in power.

"The Taleban organisation has worked in close concert with Osama bin Laden and the Al-Qaida network. Clearly, that is not right. And they've got to recognise it," White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card told Fox News.

"They cannot be a party to these terrorist acts, and if they're going to continue to be a party to the terrorist acts, they should not be in power," he added.

Card said, The Taleban must turn not only Osama bin Laden over, but all of the operatives of the Al-Qaida organisation. They've got to stop being a haven where terrorists can train and roam and do their dastardly deeds."
