Taleban offers to hand over bin Laden: The Guardian

A report in The Guardian newspaper on Wednesday said Afghanistan's ruling Taleban regime has offered to hand over suspected terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden.

Citing senior Pakistani official sources, the report said the Taleban has, for the first time, proposed to hand over bin Laden for trial in a country other than the US without asking to first see evidence of his involvement in the September 11 terror attacks in the US.

In return, the Taleban has sought immediate cessation of US bombings in Afghanistan.
