Mullah Mohammad Omar, the spiritual leader of the Taleban, on Monday said terrorism could only be defeated if the United States withdrew its forces from the Gulf region, the Afghan Islamic Press reported.
"The US cannot come out of the current crisis if it kills me or Osama bin Laden," he said.
"If America wants to end terrorism, then it should withdraw its forces from the Gulf and end its partiality on the Palestine issue."
Omar said America's preparations for war in retaliation for the attack on its cities were an attempt to overthrow the Taleban government and take Islam "hostage".
"The present situation in Afghanistan is a good example of America's attempts to take Islam hostage," he said.
