The man was detained following a tip-off from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Pakistan's Interior Minister Moinuddin Haider told reporters on Thursday, adding more arrests were expected
The suspect was picked up from Lahore, he said.
Haider did not disclose the name of the Arab national and the date of his arrest but Islamabad daily Dawn said the arrested militant was identified as Benjamin Ahmed Mahmud.
Haider also said that the credit for al Muhajir's arrest 'goes to Pakistani agencies'.
Al Muhajir, a Hispanic-American and main suspect in the 'dirty bomb' case, was deported from Pakistan for travelling on forged documents, Haider was quoted as saying by the daily.
He denied that al Muhajir was carrying radioactive material from Pakistan. "The question of his carrying something from Pakistan does not arise," he asserted.
US authorities have found that he had a long criminal record and had also been imprisoned.
