Batsman Aravinda de Silva announced his retirement from all international cricket on Tuesday, moments after Sri Lanka's World Cup semi-final defeat to Australia.

The 37-year-old, who made his Test debut in 1984, played 308 one-dayers and was the man of the match with a century against Australia when Sri Lanka won the World Cup in 1996. He played the last of his 93 Tests in October.
