![]() Yaadein, a hit!Komal Nahta
With Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai already having made Hrithik a superstar, the actor is keeping his fingers crossed about his fourth film. And which will that film be? Well, Khalid Mohammed's Fiza is scheduled to be his second release. Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Mission Kashmir will hit the marquee next. Ghai's Yaadein will come thereafter, making it Hrithik's fourth release. If one were to ignore the commercials he is doing, that is! When Hrithik let Ghai into this secret, the film-maker joked, "Chalo then, let's not work hard. The film is going to click in a big way in any case!" Not that that bit of bonhomie has stopped Hrithik or Ghai from slogging it with the rest of the cast and crew on the sets of Yaadein. After all, one has to work hard to make predictions come true! Nayak or The Real Hero?
Nayak, it seems, was booked by N R (Babloo) Pachisia years ago. Rajkumar Santoshi was scheduled to direct the film, which was to star Anil Kapoor. But the project with Santoshi did not materialise. Babloo then finalised a new project with Hrithik Roshan in the title role of Nayak. While Anil Kapoor was signed on for Rathnam's Nayak -- The Real Hero, to be directed by Shankar. What's more, it was Hrithik's father, Rakesh, who sounded the clapper-board for the muhurat shot of Shankar's Nayak -- The Real Hero on July 15. Babloo, in the meanwhile, has complained to the title registration committee about Rathnam's use of the title Nayak -- The Real Hero. If his complaint is upheld, Rathnam will have to look for a new title. Vashu sets up studio in Manali
It so happened that the producer needed Abhishek Bachchan to dub for Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya. But Abhishek was busy shooting in Manali for Gurudev Bhalla's Shararat. An expensive set had been set up for the shooting schedule, which is to last for 40 days. And Manali, a hill resort, does not have a dubbing studio. Vashu, of course, was not fazed. He simply 'took' the studio -- albeit temporarily -- to Manali by shifting all the necessary accessories from Madras. "Abhishek," says Vashu, "is a class apart from the other heroes. He is so hard-working! Even though he used to shoot all day in Manali, he would dub for my film in the morning before reporting for the shooting and, again, at night, after the shooting." The story behind Deewane
But we can tell you another story -- this one is about how the film actually came to be made. Writer Anees Bazmee once narrated the pre-interval story of Deewane to Harry Baweja. Which, in itself, was an unusual and difficult subject. So much so, Anees himself had not thought about how the story would end. Yet, he wanted to know if Harry was interested in making a film on the subject. Harry was, but thought it was "a difficult subject to make into a film." He gave it 24 hours, then told Anees he was ready to make the film. But since he had to start the film almost immediately -- he had the dates of Ajay Devgan and others who were signed for his new film -- and Anees was very, very busy, the director asked him if he would allow his writer, Karan Razdan (Dilwale, Diljale), to write the screenplay. Anees agreed and narrated the story to Karan, who found the subject equally tricky. After thinking for a while, he said he would prefer not to write the screenplay. At which point, Harry suggested he mull over the subject for 24 hours. Karan too changed his mind! And came up with a screenplay that complemented Anees' story. Which was how Deewane was 'born' -- and 'brought up'! Fiza set for flying initial
The romantic Mahiya -- beautifully picturised on Hrithik Roshan and Neha -- is sure to be a hit. Sushmita Sen looks bewitching in Mujhe mast mahaul mein; she is both sexy and stylish and it's difficult to say what is better -- the song, its picturisation or Sushmita's dance! Karisma Kapoor dances with effortless ease on Ghunghroo toot gaye. The dance steps are quite difficult, but Karisma's agility is breathtaking. And the music piece? Hrithik's acrobatics and dance on the four minute music piece is absolutely mind-blowing. It is sure to have his fans in raptures. With this kind of music (Anu Malik; one song has been composed by A R Rahman) and song picturisation (choreographers: Farah Khan, Saroj Khan; cameraman: Santosh Sivan), Khalid's directorial debut cannot help but take a great start. Boney plays it safe
