Love makes his world go round!

Komal Nahta

Now, one may have thought that after making a disastrous debut with papa Feroz Khan's magnum 'flopus' Prem Aggan, Fardeen Khan would have thought twice about the word prem.

Far from it. At a recent Q & A session at the Asian Academy Of Film & Television, Noida, proved he is a chip of the old block.

Displaying the indomitable spirit of his flamboyant father, the charismatic hero exclaimed, "Love!" when asked what was that one thing he values the most in life!

For those of you who want to know, Fardeen has a decent lineup of films: Feroz Khan's Tera Saath Hai Kitna Pyara, writer-turned-director Neeraj Pathak's Maati (The Soil) and two films being produced by Ramgopal Varma -- an untitled film directed by Rajat Mukerji, and Jackpot, which is being directed by E Niwas and co-produced by Nitin Manmohan. Fardeen is also working on the next films of Anees Bazmee, Mehul Kumar and Pahlaj Nihalani.

Diwali tug-of-war!

Mohabbatein Two Diwali releases: Mohabbatein and Mission Kashmir.

Both oven hot among exhibitors and sub distributors.

Mission Kashmir has been booked at an unheard-of MG of Rs 50 lakhs for Surat alone! (The highest price any film has been offered so far in Surat is Rs 25 lakhs.)

Mohabbatein, too, is evincing crazy terms. A Gujarat sub distributor has reportedly offered to buy the film's distribution rights for as much as Rs 3.25 crore! While the rush for MK is because of Hrithik Roshan, that for Mohabbatein is for the Yash Raj Films banner.

Mohabbatein is being eagerly awaited for by the trade as well as the audience.

What would be interesting to watch is which film opens to a more thunderous response or whether both take bumper openings!

A Dream Come True!

Aatish Kapadia, writer of the popular Gujarati serial, Sapnana Vavetar, and its Hindi version, Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka, and noted writer-director of Gujarati plays, Vipul Shah, shared a dream: of having one of their hit plays made into a film. Amitabh Bachchan

Their dream will now become reality. With producer Gaurang Doshi (son of producer Vinod Doshi, who had made Sachaa Jhutha, Blackmail and Nastik).

They also had a bigger dream: that Amitabh Bachchan would play the lead role.

But there was a catch: it was a negative role.

The question then was, would Big B agree to it?

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. So the two approached AB.

Much to their delight, Amitabh not only received them warmly, he liked the role and consented to do it!

And that is how Amitabh Bachchan will be doing a bad man's role after nearly three decades -- after Parwana (1972) and Gehri Chaal (1973).

A starstruck contest!

Baroda was in a tizzy!

Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai It was the evening of September 2. Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Boney Kapoor and Satish Kaushik had descended on Baroda. Never mind the two-hour flight delay. The public was still there, huge smiles, awed expression, waving hands et al.

Why they were in the city? To celebrate the success -- replete with sumptuous dinner -- of Boney Kapoor's Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai at the Holiday Inn Convention Centre.

What's more, the Holiday Inn Convention Centre and Indian Express also put up a Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai contest.

Participants had to, among other things, answer a series of questions relating to the film. The contest, open to residents of Gujarat, promises exciting prizes -- the first being gold jewellery worth Rs 75,000, sponsored by Baroda's leading C H Jewellers. The second, a home theatre and a 21-inch colour TV, both sponsored by Crown TV.

Other prizes include free stays at BASS Hotels & Resorts, 100 gift hampers from Coca-Cola and a host of free stays from Holiday Inn Hotels in India.

100 not out!

Yash Johar's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which marked the triumphant debut of director Karan Johar and which won the National Award for the best film providing wholesome entertainment, hit the100th combined week at Imperial (matinee), Bombay, on September 8.

Karan, in the meantime, is all set to start the shooting of his new film, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.

Hrithik Roshan To date, the film is the most starstudded film being made. Three superstars will rub shoulders with one another -- Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan.

Leading ladies? Jaya Bachchan, Kajol and Kareena Kapoor.
