Akshaye Khanna experiments with evil in Humraaz

Akshaye Khanna guards his privacy ferociously. He is low profile and he makes no bones about his aversion for the media. Which is what has probably earned him the reputation of being arrogant.
For the first time in his career, that has seen him hit lows with Dahek and ride the crest in Subhash Ghai's Taal and Farhan Akhtar's Dil Chahta Hai, the actor dons the baddie's cloak in Abbas-Mastan's Humraaz, which hits the screen this Friday.
"I play Karan, an instructor who has his own dance group. He is very ambitious. Though the character may sound very typical and routine, it is not so," Akshaye explains.
"What the directors, Abbas-Mastan have tried to show is that there are two sides to every coin. Each character can be right and wrong at the same time. No one is perfect. The promos reflect this, and will intrigue the audience. I can assure you that Humraaz will not disappoint."
Akshaye did not have to prepare for his role in Humraaz, as the 'script itself had a lot information'.
Akshaye is always up for a challenge. "When I first heard the script, I was very excited. Bobby (Deol) and Amisha (Patel) have also done what their roles demanded. The film has come out really well." The actor, who is very choosy about his roles, adds, "Every actor --- whether it is Bobby, Shah Rukh (Khan) or Sunny (Deol) --- has cut down on his films. I am no different. Everyone wants to do only those films which they find interesting. That is the way the industry works. Besides, they want to take lesser films so that they can concentrate on their films.
"I must say that I have been lucky to have got good offers. There are so many aspiring actors who simply do not get a chance (to display their talent) and so many others who have become actors but do not get a chance to do the kind of roles that I have been given," he adds.
After his much-talked about look in his previous film Farhan Aktar's Dil Chahta Hai, Akshaye sports another get-up in this film. "The directors and I thought of this new look and we worked on it."
Apparently, Humraaz has been inspired by the 1998 Michael Douglas-Gwyneth Paltrow starrer A Perfect Murder.
Akshaye has two other films on hand: Anees Bazmi's Deewangee (which releases this October) and JP Dutta's LoC (which releases in 2003).
As of now, the son of India's new minister of state for tourism and culture, Vinod Khanna, wants to try his hand at comedy. "David Dhawan is the best as far as Indian comedy films are concerned. Yes, I am looking forward to doing comedy films," he concludes.
