Karan Johar has no clue what he wants to do in future. "I have a writer's block. I am frozen. I cannot think," he jokes, as his previous film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham still rakes in moolah.
His production house is busy with pre-production of a new film --- a love triangle featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. Scripted by Johar, it will be directed by associate director Nikhil Advani. As an aside, Saif Ali Khan once stated that he would do not any love triangles after the disastrous Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, directed by Arjun Sablok. "I have not heard that one as yet," smiles Johar.
Originally, Advani was supposed to make a thriller featuring Vivek Oberoi. "But that was not happening at all. So we decided to go back a bit, start again and do this love triangle with an unusual twist. Let me make it clear that I am all for Vivek. I loved him in Company"
Karan's current obsession is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas, which he saw at the Cannes Film Festival recently. "I was in London, so I hopped over to Cannes as part of the Indian film delegation with my parents. I am thankful that I did. I have no words to describe Devdas. It is a textbook for all of us filmmakers to learn the craft."
Karan was in London to celebrate his 30th birthday. "We had a wonderful time. But I must say I feel very old nowadays. Compared to Farhan Akhtar [director, Dil Chahta Hai], I am ancient!"
Johar says, musingly, "The market is in such a slump now. I am afraid the stars will soon have to lower their prices. That is the only way to survive. In fact, some of the so-called stars will have to start paying producers!"
