* Before her debut, Rani Mukherji acted in a Bengali film Biyar Phool.

* Rani's mother tongue is Bengali, and like a true Bengali, Rani has a fetish for fish. Her favourite dish is Macher Jhol, a fish based delicacy.

* Rani schooled at Mumbai's Maneckji Cooper Educational Trust School.

* Though she considers Sylvester Stallone to be the most good-looking hunk in movies, her favourite actors are Tom Cruise and Amitabh Bachchan.

* She won her first and only Filmfare Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her role as Tina in Karan Johar's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

* Rani wasn't the original choice for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Karan Johar had approached several actresses like Twinkle Khanna and Aishwarya Rai before he decided on Rani. Pooja Bhatt was to initially star in Ghulam. Bhatt opted out and Rani stepped in.

* Rani was approached for the part of Gauri in Aamir Khan's Oscar-nominated Lagaan. The actress didn't have bulk dates to spare. Her loss proved to small screen actress Gracy Singh's gain.

* London is one of Rani's favourite holiday spots. She also likes to travel all over Europe.

* So far Rani has had two guest appearances: in Indra Kumar's Mann, she featured in a song sequence (Kaali naagin), with Aamir Khan; and in Karan Johar's multi starrer Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
