Kumar S R a 45-year old tea vendor from Salagame village in Hassan, says that he expects a solution to the fertilizer crisis from his leader. H D Deve Gowda is the MP from our constituency and if he wins again, he should ensure that there is a permanent solution to this crisis.
"We have been buying fertilizer in the black market and at it just does not work out for us. Ideally we get a bag of fertilizer at Rs 300 a bag from the cooperative society, but now we have been paying anything between Rs 500 and Rs 600 per bag." Kumar says.
"We have spoken to our MP a lot of times and have also sat in dharna outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner. Each time we return empty handed and life is becoming miserable for us. Fortunately I run a tea stall and that keeps my family going. But we are agriculturists by birth and we feel miserable that our primary occupation is in a miserable state," Kumar says.
"I would surely vote for Deve Gowda as I feel that only he understands the problem of the farmer. It is the state government which is dodging this issue and now we hope that our MP puts pressure on the government and ensures that our problem is solved," He said.
